Global Challenge (1-10 Weeks)

Global Challenge is OM's program of summer & short-term mission opportunities.

Global Challenge provides opportunities from two to ten weeks. Destinations include countries in Asia, Europe, the Muslim World and North America, plus OM's ocean-going mission ships.

You will join Christians from other countries to form an international team in order to share the gospel through a variety of methods. Friendships you develop, drama, mime, literature distribution, prayer, open air activities, or whatever imaginative way your team can devise will provide these opportunities.

Global Action (1-2 Years)

Global Action is an opportunity for you to lay a foundation for your hands-on training and evangelism and to use your abilities and experience in places where there may be little Christian witness.

You could be part of a church-planting team or helping in community development or relief work, or encouraging local Christians in evangelism, or using practical skills or professional experience (for example, as a computer programmer, secretary, auto-mechanics or cook) to support the ministry of those engaged in evangelism anywhere in the OM world.

One & two year opportunities are available depending on your country of service. Some countries also offer opportunities for 6 months. We want people of all ages who are willing to become servants for Christ and who are ready to build relationships with people from other cultures and nationalities.

For some, Global Action will be the beginning of a career in full-time Christian service at home or overseas. For others, it will be the start of a life commitment to actively support world mission, whatever long-term career they go into.

The Global Action program will train you and give you opportunities for service. Global Action gives you in-depth, hands-on training in Christian work. You will use your abilities and life experience in places where there may be little Christian witness. You can specialise in one of three teams:

Action Evangelism:
Focus on evangelism through creative outreach, church planting, tentmaking, and Ships’ ministry.

Special Ministry:
Serve people with special needs by combining Christian work with practical help through development projects, work among the poor, and ministry to refugees.

Vital Support:
Increase OM’s global impact by joining an OM ‘home office’ resource team or a support team on the field. Serve through administration, secretarial work, financial development, accountancy, technical services, media, graphics, recruiting, and pastoral care.

Each team offers training that will provide a biblical foundation for personal growth and effective service. The training consists of orientation before you depart for the field, study based on eight OM core study modules, and field training such as language study, ministry training, etc.

Global Service (Specialised Service)

Global Service is OM’s program for those joining for longer-term service. There’s a similar range of opportunities – for church-planters and evangelists, administrators and community workers, those with professional skills, ‘tentmakers’, etc.

Most of those joining Global Service are more experienced, but we still provide training, especially in language-learning and cross-cultural ministry. We are particularly looking for Global Service staff in some of our offices and for church-planting and community development work in ‘restricted access’ countries.
